Sea Glass Flame Workshop

£495.00

Sea Glass Flame  a three-day workshop, taking inspiration from the North Antrim shoreline to create sculptural objects in the flame with Borosilicate glass.

You will learn how to use heat and gravity to manipulate glass in the flame. We will cover methods and techniques to bend, stretch, sculpt and carve molten glass to create sculptural objects, inspired by natural forms found locally on the magical shoreline of Whitepark bay.

Working with heat and gravity to manipulate glass in the flame, you will learn  methods and techniques to bend, stretch, sculpt  and carve molten glass, creating sculptural objects, inspired by natural forms. Using both bench and hand torches, you will discover how I build intricate elements at the torch and combine solid and hollow sculpting techniques to create the sculptural pieces I make.

The class will offer demonstrations alongside practise at individual workstations. There will be group discussions and field trips for inspiration. Together we’ll discover how to harness the magic of the sea to create detailed and intricate work with glass in the flame.
